A SIMPLE WEDDING PLANNING TIMELINE
There is no single perfect engagement length. What matters is making the biggest decisions early and saving the smaller details for later.
12–18 months before
Set a working budget and guest-count range. Choose the venue and date, then secure the photographer, caterer, and entertainment—especially for popular summer Saturdays.
8–12 months before
Choose the wedding party, attire, florist, and major rental needs. Create a simple wedding website and share save-the-dates with traveling guests.
4–8 months before
Refine the menu, ceremony plan, décor, transportation, lodging information, and day-of schedule. Order invitations with enough time for addressing and mailing.
1–3 months before
Collect RSVPs, finalize seating and menu counts, confirm vendor arrival times, and review the complete event flow with the venue. Build in breathing room instead of scheduling every minute.
The final two weeks
Provide final counts, make required balances, pack personal décor, and assign one trusted contact for vendor questions. Then step back from major changes and enjoy the people coming to celebrate with you.
